Charm vials are Central and South American amulets that contain a variety of plant materials and symbolic objects. From left to right:

    • The samples pictured above are slightly enlarged by 25% of the actual sizes of the vials. They contain plants and mineral materials only, usually with symbolic objects, and occasionally a painted soapstone carving of a saint suspended in oil. Some of the containers are cast-off medical ampules. Charm vials are often sold with printed descriptions of their contents, none of which are completely accurate.

    Charm Vial #2 is a Peruvian Amulet Vial for Wealth, made by a "Curandero" or Folk Doctor, from the Amazon area of Ayacuucho, Peru. Used to protect and attract money and to protect and help businesses. Vials may contain:
    * Pyrite or Fools' Gold to attract money
    * Red or Black "Huayruru" seeds for luck
    * Oil for health
    * A horseshoe for good luck
    * A magnet which attracts both luck and money
     
    Charm Vials #3 & #4 are used for protection, health and luck. Each contain all the above items and more:
    * Coloured tree bark for health
    * A curled yellow vine called "Vuelve Vuelve" helps regain a lost lover or friend.
    Each vial may also contain a carved, painted alabaster figure:
    * White figure is the child of knowledge or wisdom
    * Blue figure is St. Anthony, the patron saint of lovers.

    We offer these vials as artefacts of folkart along with their native beliefs, they are sold as wonderful curios.
